About Dot
I have 34 years of experience in education, beginning as a primary school teacher and also teaching children with severe and multiple disabilities within Hampshire Social Services.
I later set up and led an early years unit in a deprived area of Southampton, and eventually lectured at Winchester University, training teachers and early years practitioners at BA and MA levels. While there, I also helped develop the Childhood Studies degree and co-edited a book on play theories.
Since retiring, I have continued to support children and families locally as a school governor and chair of governors.
I joined Community Playlink in 2012 as a volunteer and later became a trustee. I helped restructure the charity's work in response to budget and staffing cuts, as well as its move to a new base. I am the main liaison trustee for staff, hold regular team meetings, and continue to work alongside the team as a volunteer.
